Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding System
The Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding System is a surgical aid for the long-term treatment of morbid obesity. Using minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques, an adjustable band is placed around the upper part of the stomach to create a small pouch which can hold only a small amount of food. When the adjustable band is in place, patients eat less, feel full, and lose weight.
Unlike other surgical procedures for weight loss, the gastric banding system is adjustable. As you lose weight, the gastric band can be tightened so that you continue to feel full longer. There is NO STAPLING and the procedure is reversible.
